Formed in 1940 the Special Operations Executive was set up to wage a secret war behind enemy lines. Specially selected agents were rigorously trained in combat fighting and issued with a variety of clandestine knives for use in special operations. Primarily small and some disguised, these blades and daggers were designed to strike at vulnerable points for evading capture or silent killing of the enemy. Usually paired with a purpose-built sheath or hidden discreetly in clothing.
