SOE Close Combat Instructors Kit

This handmade re-creation of an SOE Instructors Kit has detailed examples of the weapons used during an agent’s training. On the right panel of the kit are thumb, sleeve and lapel daggers. On the left panel are three spike daggers – Bodkin, Hatpin and a thrust dagger or Dipstick, as it resembles an oil dipstick.

These tri-edge daggers are made from silver steel, commonly used in toolmaking. Also in the kit is a Coin blade – an Australian copper penny dated 1941 which has a claw like blade, sharp enough to inflict nasty wounds to an unsuspecting enemy.

The Kit is sold with a custom-made Tasmanian Oak presentation box.

Formed in 1940 the Special Operations Executive was set up to wage a secret war behind enemy lines. Specially selected agents were rigorously trained in combat fighting and issued with a variety of clandestine knives for use in special operations.

Primarily small and some disguised, these blades and daggers were designed to strike at vulnerable points for evading capture or silent killing of the enemy. Usually paired with a purpose-built sheath or hidden discreetly in clothing.
